What 20 Years In Showbiz Taught Bea Binene
In a heartfelt interview, Bea Binene shared her journey from a child star to a seasoned actress, highlighting her growth and challenges in the entertainment industry. From the beginning, Bea captivated viewers with her role in “Pasahero,” a movie about a virtual graphic artist who witnesses a critical incident on a train, touching on social themes. While filming captured the last trip of the Philippine National Railways (PNR), Bea reflected on how the role aligned with her aim to portray impactful stories.
Bea’s 18-year-long career began at GMA, where she gained her first experiences as a child star. Moving to VIVA after two decades with GMA marked a shift in her career, driven by her desire for personal and professional growth. Looking back, she admitted that showbiz can be overwhelming but emphasized her mother’s support, who has been with her every step of the way. Growing up with her mother’s guidance taught her the importance of values, humility, and charity, such as her volunteer work with the Kapuso Foundation and the Philippine Red Cross.
Throughout her career, Bea faced pressures, especially regarding physical appearance and societal expectations. She recalled the struggles with body image and criticism, often feeling pressure to fit certain ideals. Despite these challenges, Bea never let the industry define her. Her advice for young talents? “Don’t let it eat you up; don’t lose yourself in the industry.”
Bea also opened up about her family life and upbringing. Raised by a single mother, she attributes much of her success and character to her mother’s wisdom and support. Their bond strengthened through the years, and Bea emphasized the importance of listening to parents, noting how their guidance shaped her life and career choices.
In her personal life, Bea carries her mother’s advice into her romantic relationships, emphasizing that love should be meaningful and long-lasting. This maturity, she says, is a product of growing up surrounded by older mentors in showbiz, which brought early life lessons and professionalism. However, she acknowledges the drawbacks, particularly the difficulty of balancing education with her acting commitments.
As Bea celebrates nearly two decades in the industry, she reflects on her evolution with gratitude. Despite the struggles, she remains grounded, finding joy in her career and the support of those who love her. Through her journey, Bea Binene stands as a testament to resilience, growth, and the importance of family in the world of fame.
